"Live Laugh Love"
This was Thuy and Dave's personal message printed on napkins at their wedding, and we believe it sums up the spirit of the occasion.
Thuy @ThuyVietKitchen was born in Vietnam and is passionate about her culinary heritage. Thuy's mission is "to put Vietnamese cooking firmly on the gastronomic map, where it deserves to be." She has many skills which include her astonishing attention to detail, meticulous planning, impeccable taste and a genuine flair for presentation, all of which come together in her cooking, but she clearly applied these skills every bit as much in the planning of her wedding day. Upon entering The South Lodge Hotel, guests were greeted by amazing collections of hand crafted objects, fabrics, and confectionery.
Two words - Shabby Chic
The fusion of cultures from Vietnam to England was marked by two ceremonies. The first was a full-on Vietnamese wedding, complete with an altar dedicated to Thuy's ancestors, where offerings of suckling pig, fruit and other delicacies were placed on trays by bridesmaids and groomsmen, the latter dressed in blue and silver Vietnamese robes and hats, providing a vivid contrast to the bridesmaids in their yellow dresses. The bride looked stunningly beautiful in red. This was followed by a special Vietnamese 'tea' ceremony.
After a change into western clothes, the official marriage took place in the summer sunshine on the beautiful terraced lawn with music provided by a string quartet. Thuy even received a standing ovation, as hotel guests paused from their afternoon tea to watch her gracefully walking down the aisle.
It was an amazing day in every respect - the perfect weather, the stunning location, the joyous atmosphere - we wish Thuy and Dave every happiness and the best of health in the years to come.
